We’ve come to expect a certain level of spontaneity in our visits to the cabin, and even through our planned trips were conservative and our first trip wasn’t anticipated until early April, the combination of finding the couch early (and needing to transport it) and wanting to check in on the cabin after most of the winter was over led us to make a trip in February.

Sunsets, Fires, and Stars: Escaping the Hubbub and Making Progress
We took two more trips up to the cabin in 2014, finishing the exterior and making some improvements inside. Amidst the work, we found joy in escaping everyday stresses, worried about a nearby wildfire, and relished in a spectacular night sky.

The Second Trip: Finishing What We Started
With our first successful trip under our belts, Justin and I returned to tackle the next big item on the to-do list: roofing. Along the way we encountered rain, a stupid generator, and a few other challenges.
